Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, the Bishop of the Diocese of Udupi administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 44 youths, boys and girls of St. Lawrence minor basilica, Attur on 18th February , 2022.

In his homily Bishop said that Baptism frees from original sin, confirmation strengthens the faith and Eucharist allows candidates to taste the body and blood of eternal life and be reminded of Christ’s love and sacrifice. Bishop also spoke on the importance of the sacrament of confirmation in one’s spiritual growth. He also said that the sacrament of confirmation sanctifies, empowers and prepares the faithful to face the spiritual challenges of life. The Bishop spoke on the 7 gifts and 12 fruits of the Holy Spirit which are gratuitous gifts of God to live a life of holiness.

Rev. Fr. Alban Dsouza, Rector of St Lawrence Minor Basilica Attur, Fr. Roman Mascarenhas, Fr. Melwyn Pinto and deacon Pradeep Cardoza were present for the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration.

At the end the Rector of St Lawrence Minor basilica, Rev Fr. Alban Dsouza expressed words of gratitude for all concerned.
